Data acquired on instruments in CIF is archived in several ways, depending upon the instrument. Much of the archived data makes it's way into the CIF Research Data Cloud. This is cloud space managed and maintained by ISU Information Technology Services; we pay a small monthly fee to rent this space. Within the cloud you will find directories for each Major Professor... leading to directories for each researcher in the group... leading to directories for each instrument... leading to actual data files.
You cannot write to data files while they are in the cloud, so reprocessing data will require you to copy the files to your local computer. Attach the CIF Research Data Cloud as a network drive (typically it will show up as the Z: drive on your computer) and then simply drag and drop the files to your local PC or Mac.
Procedures for reprocessing previously acquired data will vary from instrument to instrument. Please speak with the appropriate CIF staff person to discuss your personal needs for data archival, retreival, and reprocessing.
X-ray (single crystal)
All single-crystal x-ray diffraction datasets are archived by Arkady on a local server and also in the CIF Research cloud. Framesets are typically very large files; these are reducedint eh initial processing step to "HKL" files. It is the HKL files and final reports that are archived
