Workshops

LC/MS Workshops

LC/MS workshops are given each year.  The last sessions were in the summer of 2011. Workshop dates are usually set4-6 weeks in advance, and depend in part on the general interest level that has been expressed.

We use our State-of-the- Art Agilent QTOF 6540 mass spectrometer for these workshops.  This instrument can achieve a resolution of 50,000 (FWHM) and mass accuracy measurement better than 3 ppm across the mass range.

A peptide mixture is normally used in the HPLC/UV/MS experiment. LC/MS/MS is also demonstrated.  The workshops are intended to provide an introduction to LCMS and a demonstartion of the LCMS capabilites, methods and resources that are available in our facility to reserachers.

Questions and discussions about specific applications are welcome.  Please contact Dr. Harrata if you are interested in attending a workshop or scheduling a workshop for your colleagues.  Fees vary, but are generally in the range of $50-$100 per ISU attendee, and $150-$300 per non-ISU attendee.

Mass Spectrometry and GC/MS Workshops

Workshops have been given in the past presenting an overview of mass spectrometry topics, and gas-chromatography-mass-spectrometry (GCMS) topics.  These workshops focus on electron ionization (EI) and chemical ionization (CI) methods. The goal of these workshop includes giving students a concrete idea about how the mass spectrum is obtained.  The Magnum GCMS, the Waters GCT GCMS, and our Agilent 6540 GC are normally used in these workshops.  Please contact Dr. Harrata  if you are interested in attending a workshop or scheduling a workshop for your colleagues.  Fees vary, but are generally in the range of $50-$100 per ISU attendee, and $150-$300 per non-ISU attendee.
